What the Image Cropper does
The JotTools Image Cropper trims a photo down to just the part you want. You set the crop region with four numbers (a starting point and a width and height in pixels), and the tool cuts out that rectangle and hands it back as a PNG. It is handy for squaring up a profile picture, lopping off an empty margin, pulling one detail out of a screenshot, or prepping an image for a thumbnail. No editor skills needed.
How to use it
- Drop an image onto the upload box, or click to browse and pick a file. The box then shows the file name plus its pixel dimensions and size, which is your reference for choosing crop values.
- Set X offset and Y offset (in pixels) to mark where the crop starts. X moves the left edge right, Y moves the top edge down. 0 and 0 start from the top-left corner.
- Enter Crop width and Crop height for the size of the piece you want to keep.
- Watch the live preview update as you type, then read the result size below it.
- Click Download to save the cropped PNG.
Why crop here
It runs entirely in your browser, so the photo never gets uploaded anywhere and stays on your device. That also makes it quick: the preview redraws the moment you change a number, with no waiting on a server. It is free, needs no account, and works the same on a laptop or phone.
Tips
Use the width and height shown on the upload box to plan your numbers, for example a 1000 by 1000 image cropped to 500 by 500 at offset 250, 250 keeps the centre square. Got a whole folder of photos to crop to the same box? The BulkPro desktop app from the same team handles batches.
Frequently asked questions
- How do I crop an image to a specific size in pixels?
- Upload your image, then type the exact Crop width and Crop height you want in pixels. Use the X offset and Y offset to position where the crop starts (0, 0 is the top-left corner). The preview shows the result, then click Download to save the PNG.
- Does the cropped image get uploaded to a server?
- No. The Image Cropper runs entirely in your browser using a canvas, so your photo is read and cropped on your own device and never leaves it. Nothing is uploaded and there is no account.
- What file format does the cropped image download as?
- The cropped result is saved as a PNG, which keeps sharp edges and any transparency. The file name ends in -jottools.png.
- Can I crop to a square or a specific aspect ratio?
- Yes. Set Crop width and Crop height to equal values for a square, or to matching proportions (like 1600 by 900 for 16:9) for any ratio you need. The live preview confirms the shape before you download.
